Zoo!

Hey! Today I went to the zoo as a volunteer for my mom's work. It was really fun! (Except for the part where one of the kids was a troublemaker.) I took a lot of pictures. . . . until my batteries died. I got very mad. I just wanted to post a couple pictures of my zoo trip. One of the pictures that I'm going to post is a close up of a Peacock's body. The eggs are Emu eggs. Then there is a picture of an elephant. I hope you like them and if you have any suggestions on how to make my pictures better, please share!! -Kaminsky

Back from my Ski Trip!!

Hi!
I just got back from a ski trip I took with my Dad's family. It was fun! We went to Big White ski resort in Canada. The coldest it got was 6 degrees, but it could have gotten colder, and I just didn't know it. It was really fun because my whole family was there. I got to spend a lot of time with my newest cousin, Isabel, who is 4 months old. It was really fun walking around with her. She's SOO cute!! I didn't take as many pictures as I hoped to, but that's my fault. It was really fun, but it's kind of good to be back home again. I hope everyone had a good President's Day weekend, and I hope you enjoyed having no school!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Hello!
Happy Valentines Day!! I hope everyone is having a great day!! Today at school I had a field trip about the Japanese Internment Camps during World War II. We drove around the city that we live in, and we learned about Japanese Internment Camps. At one of the places we went to, we had to write Haikus. Here are a few of the ones that I wrote. I'm not saying they are any good, I'm just saying that I wrote them.

Icy Fields of White
Branches Bow under the Weight
I see a tree fall.

Mother Bunny Hops
Guiding Her Children To Their Home
While The Cat Watches.

The Hummingbird sits
Drinking up the Sweet Nector
While the World Revolves.

I hope you like them! I didn't name any of them. The one about the Hummingbird is kind of weird. I don't know where I got the last line from. Whatever!! I also met the author David Patneaude today. He is the author of Thin Wood Wall, Colder Than Ice, Haunting at Home Plate, Someone was Watching, Dark Starry Morning, The Last Man's Reward, and Framed in Fire. I haven't read any of his books, so I don't know if he's a good author or not. Today I also visited a Japanese Garden with Haikus in it. Here are some of the Haikus in the garden.

The willow
waves smilingly
at the gate
Issa

Wake up, wake up,
sleeping butterfly-
let us be companions
Basho

They blossom
we gaze-
the petals scatter.
Onitsura

A single leaf falls
then suddenly another,
stolen by the breeze.
Ransetsu

How many, many things
they call to mind-
these cherry-blossoms
Basho

From what flowering tree
I know not-
but ah, the fragrance
Basho

The quiet pond;
a frog leaps in-
the sound of water
Basho

Ice and water,
their difference resolved,
are friends again
Teishitsu

I hope you liked those Haikus too!! So. . . have a great Valentines Day!!!

About My Past Week!

Hello!
So. . .my week was interesting. It was actually kind of eventful. On Wednesday I got the flu, so I missed school on Wednesday and Thursday. My teachers were really nice and I didn't have to make up any work! Friday was just a normal school day, nothing interesting happened. Yesterday I went with my mom to her bookclub in Bellingham. It was kind of funny listening to their conversations about the book they read and about everything else too. It was entertaining. Today I went horse back riding, which was really fun since it was really sunny out! It's kind of funny how it's really sunny where I live, and the NE is being hit with a snowstorm!!
I hope everyone is having a great week! Happy Valentines Day if I don't update in 2 days!!

Pictures!

Hi!
I wanted to post some pictures. Here are some pictures from Kevin's house. These pictures will be of more of his animals. As I said before, he has a lot. These are some pictures of some of his chickens. Personally, I really like the picture that I took of the two chickens in one photo. No, they are not chicks, they are just naturally small chickens for their breed. I hope you like these pictures too! (They do not have names.)
Enjoy!!

Weekend Stuff!

Hello!
This weekend was VERY eventfull! Yesterday, the whole city that I lived in was out of power. The only place that had power was the local bookstore! My dad's house was out of power for 12 hours in total. The power went out at about 5:00 am and came back on at about 5:00 pm. My dad has a gas fireplace, but the fan that made the heat spread throughout the house ran on electricity so the house didn't get very warm. If you sat right in front of the fire, you would get REALLY HOT in just a few minutes. It got kind of interesting. Then today, Sunday, my youngest sister threw up about 8 times this morning. Then we watched the Superbowl and were VERY dissapointed when the Seahawks lost. At least they made it this far though! That's a really great achievement. Tonight after the Superbowl I got an e-mail from a friend who sent me the website address that told you the names of the actresses who will be playing Luna Lovegood and Professor Umbridge in the upcoming Harry Potter movie. Professor Umbridge will be played by Imelda Staunton and Luna Lovegood will be played by Evanna Lynch. Yesterday everyone lost power because it got really windy. I think I saw about 5 trees down and a couple of roads got blocked off. The ocean was really high and muddy too! It was interesting.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
